The French go goofy for Jerry Lewis. Germans set their clocks while David Hasselhoff rocks. Filipinos flip over… Dennis Lambert? Lambert may be not be known by name in the States, but the hit singles he’s written for others have certainly crossed your lips – whether you’re proud of it or not – including “Nightshift,” “Rhinestone Cowboy,” “One Tin Soldier,” and… “We Built This City (On Rock And Roll).” And while Blender Magazine concluded “We Built This City (On Rock And Roll)” is the “#1 Worst Song Ever,” in the Philippines, Lambert’s 1972 solo album, OF ALL THE THINGS, particularly its title track, is celebrated as the (unofficial) #1 Wedding Song Ever. This is precisely why an enterprising promoter lures Lambert out of semi-retirement – he now hawks houses in Boca Raton – to tour the Philippines (with Paul Williams!), playing multiple concerts, culminating in a packed-arena love-fest in the capital city. While Don King might have dubbed the show “Vanilla in Manila,” the sincere affection of the audience is palpable, an impressive accomplishment for filmmaker Jody Lambert, the legend’s son. Even though the production stays in the family, OF ALL THE THINGS still allows glimpses of fading celebrity’s tells and tolls. The documentary rings true whether you’re already a fan or an unexpected convert.

“A thoroughly engaging doc with enough appeal to reach beyond its presumptive target aud of nostalgic baby boomers… an affectionate portrait of a beloved parent and a celebration of contributions by an unsung hero of pop culture.” — VARIETY

“It’s all terribly engrossing as we’re along for the ride with Dennis Lambert‘s big comeback tour.” — FILM THREAT FOUR STAR REVIEW ****

The most unique comeback story of the year. Dennis Lambert was one of the most successful and diverse songwriter/producers of the ‘70s and ‘80s, with hits like “Ain’t No Woman (Like The One I’ve Got)”, “Rhinestone Cowboy”, “Don’t Pull Your Love”, “Baby Come Back” and “Nightshift”. He had chart-toppers in almost every genre of music — at one point four of his songs were simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, a feat previously accomplished only by The Beatles. That was then. Today, he’s a 60-year-old family man selling real estate in Florida. But it turns out his obscure 1972 solo album is huge… in the Philippines. A Filipino concert promoter has been begging Dennis to come tour for decades, and in 2007 he finally agreed. OF ALL THE THINGS is a hilarious and touching pop/rock/country/R&B documentary that follows Dennis on his whirlwind tour as he rediscovers his passion for music — a two-week adventure that takes him from the comforts of Boca Raton to a sold-out show at Manila’s famous Araneta Coliseum for thousands of fans he never knew he had. Some lives deserve an encore.
