Ebert writes from the heart?

This may be Roger Ebert’s best review in years, it reads more like the confession of the lovelorn than movie criticism and yet it still comes across as a spot-on reading of BLUE VALENTINE.

What do YOU think?

(Thanks to TLoML for sharing the review with me.)

As movie goers we show our dislike and approval with out dollars. Professional reviewers do it with rapier wit and words.

It is when we all realize that being kind with a review to a movie actor does not make them a better actor. So goes it with writers directors editors and even the music director.

As Disney takes over the long standing (originally) Siskel & Ebert At The Movies that started on WTTW and newspaper circulation nears death there are few persons and few places to hear the truth about entertainment.

I want to see you take that place – you have the ability and the respect of the industry and audience to do so. Roger Ebert is and was my guide to understanding movies. Warren Etheredge is my guide to understanding film

Thanks, TC. I do respect Ebert even as I curse him under my breath for introducing the thumbs up, thumbs down rating system. He is a proud, confident and, sometimes, profound critic. I would be honored to assume his role and build upon the work he has done.
