A couple of years ago, I tried coining a phrase to capture the essence of Seattle’s resurgent filmmaking scene. I call it: The Munge Movement. (Munge being part movies, part grunge and, perhaps, a naughty wink at mung-ing.) Well, finally our local press has caught up, even if they refute the Munge label.
Seattle Magazine has published an article trying to identify the city’s next (first?) breakout auteur. I was interviewed for the piece and was relegated to only a couple of quotes. Strangely, they skipped my more insightful/sardonic remarks for two more hopeful comments. Am I a changed man? Kinder? Gentler? Sober? You decide. You can read Jamie Friddle’s article right here.
Once you have, cast your vote here for Seattle’s brightest (directorial) star. Not to peddle influence, but my pick is David Russo of THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF LITTLE DIZZLE.
