Layoffs and restructurings, foreclosures and bankruptcy, dwindling retirement savings, divorce….wherever you look something is changing.  As we scramble to keep up it is natural to feel overwhelmed and helpless, because change is hard — especially when it is forced upon us. How can we adapt quickly and successfully?

MJ Ryan has the answer — Adaptability: How to Survive Change Your Didn’t Ask For walks us through three stages of successful change: accepting it, expanding your options, and taking action.  You can retrain your brain to stop panicking and start planning, to identify new opportunities and align yourself with your values and purpose. You can actually thrive during this time of change—and make it a transformative time.

MJ Ryan is the author of many books includingThis Year I Will…: How to Finally Change  a Habit, Keep a Resolution Or Make a Dream Come True; The Happiness Makeover; Trusting Yourself; andThe Power of Patience, and she is one of the creators of the Random Acts of Kindness Series. Ryan is also a columnist atHealth Magazine, a contributing editor at Good Housekeeping, and a coach for high performance executives, entrepreneurs and leadership teams around the world.
