Like this poor, simple USC student interviewing John Cusack, Justice isn’t always swift. Take the case of Dorothy Stang (right), the septuagenarian activist nun who was murdered in Brazil in 2005. One of her alleged killers will soon be re-tried — although no court date has been set — allowing for the possibility that Brazil’s legal system may finally fulfill its function.
The heinous crime — a retaliatory slaying due to Ms. Stang’s environmental and social efforts, according to prosecutors — is the focus of the amazing documentary, THEY KILLED SISTER DOROTHY, which recently picked up the prize for Best Documentary at the Ashland Independent Film Festival. I had the great fortune to interview director Daniel Junge, click here to listen in on our conversation, during which he reverses roles with me.
Then, draw your own conclusions — about Justice, documentaries and the karmic eco-fate of Brazil — and share them right here on The Warren Report.
