If you’re an aspiring screenwriter, socialization isn’t necessarily one of your primary skills. That is a secondary reason why contests are significant to enter. If you win, not only do you receive a prize and the chance to further your career, but it may just force you to interact with other in the business, certainly, a good thing. Of course, the question always remains: which competitions should you enter? Well, below, I have posted the official details for one I can personally vouch for, co-sponsored by TheFilmSchool. Take luck!
The Great American Short Screenplay Contest — Seven Pages or Less
During the spring of 2008, Seattle’s screenwriting program TheFilmSchool was proud to partner with the Seattle International Film Festival to offer the first Great American Short Screenplay Contest. The turnout was beyond expectation, with over 60 quality short scripts entered. The winner, Joshua Bourland, was announced at a celebratory brunch held at the Space Needle. As part of the contest, Bourland’s short script “Arthur” was shot as a part of the 2009 Fly Film Series. Joshua also received a full-tuition scholarship to the Summer 2008 session of TheFilmSchool‘s flagship program, the 3-week-intensive, an intimate and unique approach to elevating storytelling through the art of film.
And now, once again, TheFilmSchool and Seattle International Film Festival announce:
