Some kind of MEOW-onderful! (podcast)

some-kind-of-wonderfulIs it ever proper to tell someone you are interviewing that you have had a crush on her or him? Or, does such a confession count as TMI? Would such a disclosure unnecessarily cause the guest to awkwardly speculate about their role in countless masturbatory, er, telenovelas?

I spared Mary Stuart Masterson any such hardship, though I certainly had pined for her as Danni in HEAVEN HELP US and Terry in AT CLOSE RANGE, a movie that should be watched repeatedly if not for her, then for the Christopher Walken-Sean Penn showdowns. (“The dogs… they smell her… they go cray-zay.”) After her turn as Watts in SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL I was madly in love. But none of this did I tell her when we sat for a chat at The Austin Film Festival, just outside the Bob Bullock Theater as her directorial debut, THE CAKE EATERS, screened. (Perhaps I felt justified keeping my secret since, these days, my affections are reserved for Maura Tierney.)

Now, the curious and the prurient can check out the unrated entirety of my interview with Ms. Masterson on The Warren Report podcast.
