barton-finkSLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE won the Academy Award for Best Picture because…

A) It was lucky   B) It was smart  C) Fox Searchlight cheated   D) It was written

Of course, the answer is D. It was written… by Simon Beaufoy, adapted from the novel Q & A, by Vikas Swarup. And while I may have found the movie more manipulative than a client-less chiropractor at a street fair, it is hard to argue the film’s global success.

If you, too, would like to strike Oscar® gold, move masses to tears and collect the occasional paycheck that would make an A.I.G. executive blush, perhaps you’ve fantasized about becoming a screenwriter (and running away with Freida Pinto). Well, don’t just dream about it; do something. I’ll tell you how. Consider me your lifeline, no need to phone a friend. Enroll for the Spring session of TheFilmSchool, beginning April 4th, 2009. (If you tell them The Warren Report sent you, you’ll save $250 on tuition!)

TheFilmSchool is Seattle’s populist response to the Sundance Institute, a three-week screenwriting intensive, founded and taught by legendary Oscar®-winner Stewart Stern (REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE; SYBIL), Emmy®-winning actor/filmmaker Tom Skerritt (TOP GUN; ALIEN; WILD ORCHID II: TWO SHADES OF BLUE), Golden Gryphon®-winning filmmaker John Jacobsen (AROUND THE FIRE), Bluegrass Independent Film Festival award-winner Rick Stevenson (EXPIRATION DATE; MAGIC IN THE WATER),  and, well… myself. Meeting six days per week, 12 hours per day, in just less than a month, you will acquire all the tools needed for breaking into the business and, possibly, breaking the Hollywood bank. You’ll learn everything you always wanted to know about structure but we’re afraid to ask Robert McKee. You’ll learn more about yourself than if Sigmund Freud were still alive to analyze you. And, you’ll hear from some of the best movie-making minds in our on-going speaker series. (Past guests include Oscar®-winner Sydney Pollack, Oscar®-winner Chris McQuarrie, Oscar®-winner Alex Gibney and Oscar®-nominee Richard Price.) As significantly, you’ll learn not only how to write, but what you ought write about… and whether or not you are ready to share your tales with ticket-buyers worldwide. TheFilmSchool offers a technical blueprint for cinematic story-telling along with a road map to success. (Watch the video below to get a taste for how the faculty achieves your goals.)

Now, tell me, who wants to be a screenwriting millionaire?

Yes? You? Is that your final answer? Well, then, click here to apply for TheFilmSchool today. Your destiny might be written.
