Walt Disney… Nazi sympathizer? While you debate the historic misdeeds of the man behind the Mouse, I’ve been pondering his corporate legacy, a business plan that glorifies greed at the expense of the company’s youthful audience. How long can we tolerate the Magic Kingdom’s less than spectacular sleight-of-hand with its dvd releases: “Now you’ll see ‘em, now you won’t! Har-har-har!” I am tired of classic titles returning to the vault then re-released as premium, super-duper or copper anniversary editions. (Note: PINOCCHIO returns this week on blu-ray, celebrating his 70th birthday. No lie.) Enough already. You’re no longer fooling people, great cryogenically-frozen(?) Uncle Walt. The spinning tea cup ride is over.
